Welcome to Hammer.org!
Hammer has a long, rich history of providing innovative services for people with developmental disabilities so they may live meaningful, self-directed lives. Our organization was founded by Alvina Hammer in 1923, and we have now served Minnesota communities for over 85 years. Everyone at Hammer – staff members, clients and their families, board members, volunteers and donors – share an important value: a belief in our common humanity. We all deserve the same opportunities to live satisfying and productive lives. We all rely on one another to achieve our dreams.
Hammer’s current array of services has been built on a foundation of respect and self-direction. Hammer staff members listen, respond and collaborate with individuals with disabilities and their family members to provide person-centered services.
Hammer has always enjoyed excellent employee retention rates. I believe this is largely due to the fact our dedicated team of professionals are passionate about client self-direction and our creative approach to services that support this value.
Our person-centered commitment is evident in the kind of services we provide and the open and flexible business atmosphere we promote. We are an organization which honors the strengths and abilities of each of our staff members. We love our work and are passionate about fulfilling Hammer’s mission – to provide adults and children with developmental disabilities the opportunity to experience life to its fullest.
Hammer.org is a window to our world and a great way to learn more about the services we provide, our volunteer opportunities, and the rewards for anyone considering a career with Hammer. In addition, donors will find information on our Giving pages including a great tool for online giving.
Thank you for visiting Hammer.org!
