Giving - Programs Needing Support

Unrestricted Fund - Unrestricted dollars are used where needed most. Of all gifts to Hammer, they provide the greatest amount of flexibility to Hammer and the people we serve.

Quality of Life Fund - Since only basic necessities are covered through government funding, these dollars enable residents to purchase clothing and furniture as well as to participate in camp, go on vacation, or to attend a favorite sporting event. Others receive needed medical or dental work, which is not reimbursed by Medicaid. Read about Matt Eaton

Staff and Resident Education and Training Fund - Many Hammer staff members are single parents and individuals working toward completing their formal education. Bound by government dollars, the wages for Hammer's direct care staff are fixed. A grant program offers an opportunity for these staff members to advance their education, provide optimal services and increase their earning potential. Residents have also used dollars from this fund to participate in conferences and workshops that enhance their skills and abilities.

Home Improvement Fund - Hammer is committed to serving individuals for a lifetime. As residents age, we renovate, remodel, or build homes, making them accessible for those with physical limitations. In addition, each home requires constant maintenance and upkeep so that it meets our high-quality standards, offering the cleanest, safest, and "homiest" environment for the people we serve.

Endowment Fund - Through dollars earned from Hammer's Endowment Funds, we are able to develop innovative programs, better meet the needs of the people we serve, cover unexpected costs, and resolve challenging issues. Thus, the more we can grow the Endowment Fund, the stronger Hammer will be. Donors can make outright gifts as well as planned gifts toward the endowment fund.

New Home Fund - Hoping Hammer can provide a secure and nurturing home for their loved one, family members inquire frequently about availability of our services. The New Home Fund was created to provide capital for purchasing or building a new home when slots become available. Hammer wants to be ready to fill the need. In Hennepin County alone, there are over 1,500 people with disabilities waiting for the kind of quality services Hammer provides.
