Hammer Travel Trip Leaders

If you love to travel and would like to help others experience the joys of travel, then please join our team!

Trip Leader: The Trip Leader is responsible for supervising the daily operation of the trip which he/she is assigned. He/she will ensure the trip itinerary runs smooth and efficiently, and with the assistance of other travel team members, oversee the medical, financial and personal needs of travelers.

Qualified Trip Leaders should have experience working with individuals with intellectual disabilities; strong communication and organizational skills; the ability to think critically and problem solve; and the ability to work effectively as a team member/leader. Prior supervisory experience and the availability to lead 2 trips a year (if needed) is preferred but not required.

Travel Staff (1:1 Specialist): The 1:1 specialist provides support for an individual in need of extra assistance while on a trip. 1:1 specialists are part of the travel team while on a trip, and follow direction from the Trip Leader for all trip related details, plans, etc.

1:1 specialists are also utilized to accompany individuals who prefer to travel on their own customized vacation, rather than with a group.

If you have experience and/or work in the industry of caring for individuals who have intellectual disabilities and would like to explore the possibility of only working for Hammer Travel, please contact our recruiter Katie Binning at kbinning@hammer.org or 952-345-8555 to discuss. We would ask for candidates to go on two trips as volunteers before making a formal job offer.

Current Hammer Residences staff should contact Katie Binning at kbinning@hammer.org or 952-345-8555 if they would like to join the Hammer Travel Trip Leader team.
